The proclamation in 1928 of Hwange as Zimbabwe’s largest National Park was a historical point in the history of Southern Africa’s wildlife protection manifest.
Hwange has over the past seventy eight years enjoyed a reputation as one of Africa’s finest game parks.

It is located in a beautiful country and offers enormous pleasure to the many visitors who enjoy the big five experience. In accordance with this, it is considered a privilege and truly respected opportunity to be able to offer one of its best private camps for the exclusive use of our shareholders and their guests.

Clients are encouraged to travel through Botswana to Pandamatenga where they can refuel their vehicles and enter Zimbabwe through the quiet border post at that point. From the border post to Bumbusi Camp is but 125 kilometres with Robbins and Sinamatella Camps on route. While some of the roads are good, the roads to and from Bumbusi could test the driver and a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

The direct return distance from
Pandamatenga to Bumbusi is only
250 kilometres which would leave a
comfortable fuel reserve for game drives around Robbins and Sinamatella,
should they extend their stay and overnight in one or both of these camps.

Sinamantella via Vic Falls and Hwange is an approximate 2½hr/150 kilometres road trip.

Those visitors who would like to fly in can land at Vic Falls to clear customs and be couriered to
Sinamantella where a service vehicle would transport them to Bumbusi. Alternatively, use can be made of the landing strips at either Sinamantella or Robins Camp.

Bumbusi Wilderness Camp is an exclusive concession and promotes one party of associated persons at a time. There is no passing traffic or other tourists in the area thus keeping with the atmosphere of African solitude. The camp is not fenced, retaining the feeling of being close to nature. It is surrounded by 4 natural springs which attract game all year round. The living quarters shelter under large Mahogany trees which attract the birds and provide shade for the buildings and guests.

The buildings are connected by stone paved walkways and the walls are built of the local stone and blend in with the surroundings. There is minimal use of vehicles required, no game drives as such, mainly walking or observing from hides and lookouts.

At Bumbusi Wilderness Camp we promote guided walking trails with qualified Parks Dept scouts who have a good knowledge of the local area. Walks to the Deka or Bumbusi gorge are an easy days outing as is the Petrified Forest.

The Bumbusi ruins are only a few minutes walk from the camp. There is a camp keeper whose duties include the provision of hot water and general cleanliness of the camp.
If required, scouts are available (subject to prior booking) from the Sinamantella office and can be accommodated at the camp.

Access to the camp is via Sinamatella (27 kilometres, 1½ hours, rough mountain pass) or Robins Camp (30 kilometres, 2 hours, 4x4 and only in dry season). The distance from Pandamatenga to Robins Camp is 57 kilometres (2½ hours on poor roads) and Robins to Sinamatella is 75 kilometres (2½ hours on good road). From Victoria Falls to Hwange is 120 kilometres on tar and then 40 kilometres gravel to Sinamatella, a total time of 2½ hours. Times are approximate and subject to the condition of the roads.
